The main character of our production MALI BLUES got a Special Award at the 12th Festival des deutschen Films in Ludwigshafen (Germany). The jurys’ statement: “She returns to her home country with the self chosen commitment of acting against the prohibition of musical consolation and joy. She becomes a heroine, that impressed us. The Special Award goes to Fatoumata Diawara for her stubborn will of not letting anybody forbid music in dark times.”
Following Fatoumata Diawara, the young shooting star of the global pop scene, MALI BLUES is a musical journey, discovering the country’s rich musical culture and it’s threat by radical Islamists. On our way we meet other committed musicians, like Bassekou Kouyaté, Master Soumy and Ahmed Ag Kaedi.
