Synopsis

Parkinsons affects millions of people worldwide. controversial stem cell therapies could hold the key to curing the nerve disease. The film shows the latest developments in the fight against Parkinson’s by explaining medical innovations and combining emotional patient reports in partly poetically composed narrative sections with the challenges of everyday clinical research.

Dopamine is actually a happiness hormone: it is responsible for our mood. But it is also important for controlling movements. A lack of dopamine leads to trembling and unsteady gait – the best-known symptoms of Parkinson‘s disease. There is still no cure for the world‘s second most common nerve disease. New studies give hope, but scientists warn against too much optimism.
