“The Wagner Files” which is part of our format “The Culture Files” (Heinrich Kleist, Ludwig van Beethoven, Zarah Leander, Paolo Pasolini) has received the audience award for the best documentary at the 37th World Film Festival in Montreal, Canada. “The Wagner Files” by Ralf Pleger is an innovative and dynamic fusion of music documentary, fictional film and animated cartoon. It critically introduces the life and musical creativity of one of the most famous – and arguably most controversial – German composers in a way that has never been done before. High quality, thought-provoking fictional scenes trace the complex and scandalous relationship between Richard Wagner (Samuel Finzi) and his second wife Cosima (Pegah Ferydoni). “The Wagner Files” is a cross media project including an interactive Graphic Novel (app) and a graphic novel (print).
The Montreal World Film Festival is one of the oldest festivals in Canada and accredited by FIAPF as A-festival.
